Stress is onvermijdelijk in het dagelijks leven en wordt in verband gebracht met aanzienlijke morbiditeit en zelfs mortaliteit. Naast angst- en slaapstoornissen kan stress leiden tot fysiologische problemen, waaronder cardiovasculaire, gastro-intestinale en immunologische problemen.1 Hierbij spelen een verhoogde productie van stresshormonen en de daaropvolgende verminderde immuunfunctie een belangrijke rol. Behalve leefstijlaanpassingen zoals goede voeding, lichaamsbeweging of meditatie kan een aantal voedingssupplementen ondersteuning bieden bij stress en stressgerelateerde aandoeningen.
