Fermented turmeric, highly bioactive curcuma longa rhizome to fight inflammation and oxidative stress

Turmeric is the tuberous yellow-orange rhizome of Curcuma longa L., a perennial plant of the ginger (Zingiberaceae) family that is widely cultivated in India. In Asian countries turmeric powder is extensively used as a culinary spice, food preservative and colouring. Since ancient times it has been used as a traditional remedy in both Ayurvedic Indian and Chinese medicine due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective, hypoglycaemic and immunomodulatory properties, which have far reaching health implications.
